Exciting Things To Do In Bangkok For The Best Vacation Experience

Bangkok is the capital and most populated city in Thailand. It is feasibly one of the most visited cities all over the world due to its various fascinating tourist attractions from street-side food to rooftop bars, from visiting ancient temples to taking a tuk-tuk tour around the marvellous city.

Bangkok has everything that will ensure you the best vacation experience that you will never forget. Some people may even feel too overwhelmed with the immeasurable number of things to do and places to discover in Bangkok. Well, you can stop worrying as here is a compiled list of a few of the exciting things that you should do during your vacation in Bangkok.

 Admire Bangkok’s Trendy Architecture

The capital of Thailand consists of dashing architectures on every street. You will immediately be captured by how the city’s modern skyscrapers stand next to historical buildings and beautiful shrines. Not every city can compare to the beauty of the architectures in this captivating city.

One of the most recognisable architectural landmarks in the city is Victory Monument. The monument was constructed back in 1941 and has been a focal point in the town ever since. The military monument sits in the centre of one of the intersections in the Ratchathewi district.

The Jim Thompson House Museum is also one of the rare architectural landmarks that you have to visit. The property was inspired by the various art collected by Jim Thompson to decorate the teak structure. Other than that, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre is a modern building with touches of classic Thai architecture that will undoubtedly take your breath away.

Some of the notable mentions include the PTT Forest in the City, Phra Sumeru Fortress, Democracy Monument and the Rama VIII Bridge.

Pay A Visit To Bangkok’s Historical Temple

One of the fascinating things to do is to pay a visit to some of Bangkok’s impressive historical temple. You get to enjoy the allure of the architecture of each building as well as understand the unique culture and rituals of the people in Thailand.

The first place that you should visit is the Grand Palace. The grounds contain more than 100 buildings that are all adorned with gold and diamonds in different colours. Several impressive buildings include Wat Phra Kaew, which is the temple of the Emerald Buddha which is also regarded as the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand.

Buddhists all over the world come here to pay homage to the statue. It is recommended to visit the temple first thing in the morning to avoid huge crowds. Another place to visit is Wat Pho which is home to the famous reclining Buddha.

Embark on a journey looking at various colourful murals illustrating over 400 images of the Buddha. There is also a conventional Thai massage school where you can discover the origins and learn the art of Thai massage. You can then visit Wat Arun or otherwise known as the Temple of the Dawn. The highlight of this temple is the 82-metre-high tower where you can walk up the stairs and get stellar views of the city.

Some other temples that you can explore are Wat Saket and Wat Benchamabophit. The most important advice is to wear proper clothing and attires as these are sacred places. Appropriate attire includes long pants, shirts with sleeves and skirts below knee length.

Go To A Floating Market

It is not every day that you get a chance to experience a floating market. Bangkok is home to various floating markets and among the list is the famous 100-year old Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Over the years, it has become too touristy as boats are selling souvenirs between each stall. However, it will still guarantee the best floating market experience.

Another famous floating market was in Amphawa. It is not as large or lively as Damnoen Saduak. Still, you can have a more authentic floating market experience here. The central part of this floating market is that you enjoy fresh seafood.
